Birds look for Platinum start
Platinum Stars will host Moroka Swallows at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium as the two teams begin their 2012/13 PSL season on Sunday, 12 August 2012, kick-off at 15h00.
Stars ended last season in 10th place on the log, claiming 36 points from their 30 matches.
Dikwena will be looking to return to the top half of the table this season. It is a feat they last achieved in 2006/07 when they were league runners-up.
Swallows ended as runners-up last season, just two points adrift of champions Orlando Pirates.
The Birds will try to go one step better this season and clinch their first league title in the better part of half a century.
In head-to-head stats, Stars and Swallows have met in 18 league matches since 2003/04.
The Birds have 11 wins compared to four for Stars, while just three matches have ended in draws.
All of Dikwena’s four wins against Swallows have come at home.
Last season the Birds took four points off Stars, drawing 0-0 in Rustenburg before winning the return game 2-1 thanks to a brace from the league’s leading goal scorer, Siyabonga Nomvethe.
The last nine league matches between the two clubs have produced just 12 goals.
