Umar penalty saved Heartland
Hosts Heartland needed a late penalty goal by Kabiru Umar to share the points with Sunshine Stars Saturday in a rescheduled NPL tie.

The draw meant that both teams maintained their positions on the table – Sunshine are seventh on the table with 46 points, while Heartland are eighth, also on 46 points.

Sunshine took the lead inside the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri through Sunday Emmanuel after 21 minutes, but it was not until the 82nd minute that the home team drew level, when Umar converted a penalty kick.

Both teams dropped points at home on Wednesday.

Heartland were forced to 1-1 draw by title-chasing Kano Pillars, while Sunshine played out a 0-0 draw with neighbours Shooting Stars in Ijebu-Ode.

The league is on recess this weekend because of the preliminary rounds of the Federation Cup, which roll out on Monday across the country.
