Coach Emordi spurs Rangers with cash gifts
Rangers vs Pillars on Wednesday
Lobi goalkeeper sees red
Enugu Rangers coach Okey Emordi has lifted his team to victory with
personal cash gifts, ranging between 5,000 and 10,000 Naira.
This incentive has excited the players.
“The coach has really surprised us. I never thought he meant it when he said he had a surprise for us should we win against Kano Pillars,” said Chinedu Sunday, who fired home a cracker in the 3-1 home win over the Kano club in midweek.
“With such motivation, I am very sure that it will take a lot from other teams to stop us in the league. It is very encouraging.”
Sunday, Chikeluba Ofoedu and Emeka Eze were on target for ‘The Flying Antelopes’ Wednesday, while Manir Ubale scored Pillars goal.
Enterprising Ofoedu steeled his nerve to score from the penalty spot after Razaq Adegbite was upended inside the box on 36 minutes, while Sunday’s belter from about 30 yards found its way into the net just a minute later.
Ubale reduced the tally on 56 minute as he worked his way through a sea of legs to slot home, but any hopes of Pillars drawing level was dashed on 72 minutes, when Emeka Eze’s teasing shot beat Theophilus Afelokhai by the near post.
“This was a very good game but we were just unlucky to have lost by this margin. We came here for the maximum points just like last year, but some slack defending gave us away. All the same, I am impressed with my players,” coach Mohammed Babaganaru told MTNFootball.com
