NFF hammer falls on Warri Wolves

NPL side Warri Wolves are to pay a staggering 10.5 million Naira (about $66,000) in fines and sanctions after crowd trouble at home games.

According to the appeals committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Warri Wolves have been ordered to play five home games in Abuja even if it spills to next season after the pitch encroachment during their home game against Enyimba.

The Warri club have also been ordered to pay the Enyimba cameraman 2.5m Naira for damages.

They have also been fined five million Naira to be paid to the NFF before their last match of the season in accordance with the NFF Article 70 of 2010.

And for their home game against Rising Stars, they will cough out another three million Naira as fine.

The game itself which was abandoned after a fan beat up a Rising Stars player will now be replayed in Abuja on date to be announced.

Harsh but deserving. The lesson learnt from this should not be forgotten. And clubs should do more to curb crowd misconduct as they use it to intimidate opposition to get result at all cost.!
