NPL leading scorer Sibi Gwar has shunned trials at Bnei Yehuda in Israel so as to fight for a place in the Super Eagles.

On Wednesday, the Niger Tornadoes hit man received his first-ever national team call-up for a friendly against Mena of Niger Republic on August 15 in Niamey.

A close confidant of the Benue-born top scorer told MTNFootball.com that Gwar was billed to travel out of the country this weekend, but opted to stay back and take his chance with the Eagles, so as to increase his ratings.

"Sibi Gwar received an offer for trial from Bnei Yehuda and was to travel this weekend, but he turned it down because he wants to represent Nigeria in the friendly against Niger Republic,” revealed the confidant.

“This is the first time he is getting national team recognition so he does not want to miss it for anything. He believes it will increase his rating and can give him better deal if he have the chance to play for Eagles and do well."

Gwar has been linked to move to Singapore, Turkey, Germany, Belgium, Portugal and now Israel after his 16 goals this season.
