NPL to decide on no-show Ocean Boys
Ocean Boys, who are wallowing at the bottom of NPL table, failed to honour Week 36 game against Wikki Tourists in Bauchi on Saturday after NPL shifted the game twice to allow the basement team honour the game.
Speaking with MTNFootball.com, NPL executive secretary Tunji Babalola said the board will sit next week to take decision on the team who have failed to honour games at home and away.
"They have failed to honour league games twice this season. There are rules governing the league, I don't want to say anything much about it whether Ocean Boys will be sanctioned or not, the board will meet on Monday or Tuesday to decide on this,” disclosed Babalola.
“I am sure the board will issue a statement to that effect.”
By the NPL rules, a club who fail to honour two games face a hefty fine and are automatically relegated to the lower league.
Ocean Boys were walked over in their home by Kaduna United and now by Wikki in Bauchi.
With only 29 points from 33 matches, Ocean Boys are already mathematically relegated from the Nigeria top flight.
