Thigh injury rules out Aneke
Aneke (left) steps out for Leopards clash
“First, he was nursing a groin injury and then he suffered a thigh injury in the game and the doctor advised him to rest the injury for this week at least while they observe him,” Wolves spokesman Timi Ebikagboro informed MTNFootball.com
This means that the former Kaduna United striker, who has been capped once by Nigeria’s Super Eagles, will miss his club’s midweek NPL fixture at Niger Tornadoes of Minna.
He will also not feature in the Delta State Federation Cup final against the Warri Wolves feeders team slated for the weekend.
“We are hopefully though he will be available for the return leg against Black Leopards in South Africa,’ said Ebikagboro.
Should he not make the trip to South Africa, two-goal hero Augustine Amutu will lead the attack with Sunday Mba supporting him.
Aneke, NPL hotshot last season with a record-breaking 20 goals, was replaced after just 15 minutes by Gift Atulewa against Black Leopards.
