Police investigate Nigeria match-fixing case
Sunshine vs Dolphin last season
“The NFF should as a matter of urgency, national importance and international practices, refer the matter to the law enforcement agencies for full and indepth investigation,” read an official statement in part.
The statement signed by secretary Okey Obi, the appeals committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) therefore set aside the decisions of the organising and disciplinary committee which fined Dolphin and Sunshine and banned coach Stanley Eguma.
The appeals committee said it could not uphold the disciplinary committee’s decisions as record of proceedings, findings and application of the rules do not tally and were inconclusive.
The committee announced that this was the final decision on the matter and that any other challenges would only be entertained by the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS).
Last season, champions Dolphin and Sunshine were mentioned in a case to compromise match officials for matches leading to the final weeks of the campaign.
