Dolphin not real champions

Dolphin beat Sunshine to the NPL title on the final day of the season when they beat Bukola Babes in Ilorin and the Akure team fell at Kano Pillars.
Dolphin finished on 71 points from 38 matches, a point ahead of Sunshine.
However, Oboabona still maintained that Sunshine were the better team this past season.
“Dolphin cannot be referred to as Nigerian champions because we are far better than them, they are not up to our standard,” said Oboabona.
“We have a better squad of players than they have but it was only that destiny smiled on them this past season. Man proposes, but God disposes.”
Sunshine reached the last four of this year’s CAF Confederation Cup and will in the coming year feature in the more prestigious CAF Champions League along with Dolphin.
They will resume training for the new NPL season on Tuesday.
