Ehiosun gets Eagles recall
Striker Ekigho Ehiosun and South Africa-based defender Gege Soriola have been named by Nigeria for a friendly against Peru later this month.

In an official statement by Super Eagles spokesman Ben Alaiya, the other foreign-based pros included in the squad to be dominated by players from the Nigeria Premier League are Olympic internationals Raheem Lawal, Nwankwo Obiora and Nnamdi Oduamadi.

The friendly is fixed for Lima on May 23.

Ehiosun has had a most impressive first season in Europe with Turkish club Samsunspor as he scored nine goals even though the club would eventually be relegated.

He is currently most sought after by several top clubs including Trabzonspor in Turkey.

Eagles coach Stephen Keshi followed the country’s team at last year’s 2012 Olympic qualifying tournament in Morocco and has maintained he will give several of the players from that team a chance in his own team.

That would therefore explain the rationale behind the invitation of the trio of Lawal, Obiora and Oduamadi.

Central defender Soriola, on the other hand, has established himself at South African Premier Soccer league club Free State Stars since he moved there from Heartland of Owerri.

The players are expected to report to the national team’s training camp, which will open on Sunday, May 6 in Abuja.

The NPL stars for the training camp will soon be announced.
