Lawal quits Spanish club in summer
Raheem Lawal will now make big move at season's end
Omeruo's Dutch club win big
Nigeria Olympic international Raheem Lawal has
disclosed that he could finally move in the summer after his Spanish club Atletico
Belares blocked him in January.
The midfielder has disclosed that he received several offers from Tottenham Hotspur, Osasuna and Real Madrid B side after shinning at the 2012 Olympic qualifiers in Morocco last year.
However, he has now told MTNFootball.com that he was close to a move away from Belares in January, but the club pleaded with him to stay on till the end of the season.
"I was to have moved in January but my club appealed to me to remain and help them get promotion," said Lawal, who fired a memorable hat-trick against Algeria in the Olympic qualifiers in Morocco in November.
"We are topping the log in our league and they argued that my departure would affect their promotion bid."
He further revealed that everything now points to his departure at the end of the season.
"I had offers from Tottenham, Osasuna and Madrid B side. The offers are still open and we are looking at a summer move. I can't say right now where I would go but with time you would get to find out," he told MTNFootball.com
The versatile player also told MTNFootball.com he is eagerly awaiting his call-up to the Super Eagles after several media reports suggested he is being seriously considered for a big promotion in the international set-up.
"It has been my long-term ambition to play for the Eagles. I have played for U20s and the U23s and now my next target is to play for Super Eagles. So, when coach Keshi said he will monitor me that I have what it takes to play for the Eagles, I was happy,” he said.
“I will keep doing well while I am waiting for that opportunity with the Eagles."
