Top NFF official Emmanuel Ikpeme has charged the Nigeria U20 team to be positive going into Sunday’s 2013 AYC qualifier in Tanzania.

The Flying Eagles lost 1-0 to their Rwandese counterparts on Tuesday in Kigali as part of their build-up to the AYC qualifier in Dar es Salam.

However, NFF director technical Ikpeme, who is accompanying the team, told the team that they need to put behind them the Rwanda loss so as to be positive going into the Tanzania clash.

“Don’t dwell on the past game because yesterday is past,” Ikpeme, a trained sports psychologist, addressed the team on Wednesday at their Alpha Palace Hotel in Kigali.

“We must now be positive because negative forces affect performance as you cannot express yourself fully when you are not happy.

“That we have setbacks does not mean we are not good. We are bound to make mistakes but we must be committed to correct them.”

Ikpeme added that he has full confidence the team will deliver in Tanzania.

“You are good and I have confidence in you,” he declared.

Skipper Chinenye Okani promised victory on Sunday.

“We will beat Tanzania on Sunday because we will give 150% in this match so as to make Nigeria proud,” said the goalkeeper.
