Orelesi's move hits snag
The switch by Nurudeen Orelesi to Albania’s KF Skenderbeu has hit a snag after the club breached terms under which he was transferred.

Orelesi, who featured for the Nigeria at the FIFA U20 World Cup in 2009, joined Skenderbeu in June 2011 on a loan transfer from Lagos club Eco FC.

The loan move of Orelesi to Skenderbeu ended on May 30, 2012, and in the contract of transfer signed by the Albanian team and Eco, if the former want to extend the player’s stay and sign him to a permanent deal, they would have to buy out his contract.

But ‘The Snow Wolves’ would go ahead and renew the left-footed defender’s contract without recourse to Eco FC.

“It’s a simple case of breach of agreement with criminal intent,” declared Eco FC president Vincent Alumona.

“I have been told that Albanian clubs are fond of such practice, but this time, I want to assure Skenderbeu that we will take the matter up and see it to its logical conclusion.

“Already, we have briefed our lawyer and the matter will be taken to FIFA.”

Orelesi, who also played for the Nigerian Olympic team who failed to make it to the London 2012 games, had first enrolled with another Albanian club, KF Dinamo Tirana in August 2010, on a season’s loan, before the switch to Skenderbeu.

The 23 year-old was instrumental in the club based in south-eastern Albania clinching the country’s 2011/2012 Superliga title.
