Nigeria's AYC warm-up cancelled
Nigeria's Flying Eagles vs Argentina
The decision of the Benin team to pull out of the game was in the interest of Nigeria, a top official of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) disclosed.
NFF general secretary Musa Amadu who confirmed the cancellation to MTNFootball.com said, "The Benin Republic FA, in the early hours of today (Friday) informed that they could not honour the game as they are under a sanction from FIFA."
He added that were the friendly to go ahead, Nigeria would suffer a sanction from world football governing body FIFA.
The friendly, which would have been played in Lagos, was to have served as a tune-up game for both countries ahead of the AYC qualifiers at the end of this month.
Nigeria are away in Tanzania on July 28 in the first leg with the return leg match on August 11.
