According to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) director of competition, Mohammed Sanusi, the 16 teams left in the cup competition will be drawn into four groups of four teams each.
The four match centres are Lokoja, Lagos, Bauchi and Port Harcourt.
This year’s tournament is again dominated by clubs from the Nigeria Premier League as there are nine of them still in contention.
Cup holders Heartland, Enugu Rangers, Gombe United, Enyimba, Kano Pillars, Lobi Stars, Warri Wolves, Sharks and Kwara United all feature in the top flight.
While from the lower leagues are Nasarawa United, El Kanemi Warriors, Prime FC, Crown FC and Plateau United.
The group phase will be played between July 16-20.
The winners of the cup competition will represent Nigeria in the 2013 CAF Confederation Cup.
The final will be staged in Lagos for the second year running.
