Nigeria trained Monday at the Stade
Omnisport in Niamey ahead of their friendly against Niger on Wednesday.
The Eagles arrived Niamey Sunday night and checked into the Hotel Gaweye in the centre of the city.
Wednesday’s friendly will kick off 3:30pm Nigerian time at the Stade Gen Sani Kountche in the Niger capital named after a former Niger Head of State.
The stadium seats up to 40,000 fans according Niger Football Federation officials who are also using the game to prepare for its crunch Nations Cup duel against Guinea on September 8.
It was also gathered that the Mena will be parading up to five foreign-based professionals who were expected on Monday from their various clubsides in France for the encounter, as the team hope to use their full arsenal against the Eagles made up of entirely local stars.
Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi has said he expects his team to acquit themselves well on Wednesday.
Eagles skipper Joseph Yobo said he expects a very good result from the team in Niamey.
Yobo, whose protracted transfer saga from EPL side Everton to Turkey has now been finalised, vouched for the quality of the players from the Nigeria Premier League.
“I wish them good luck and a fine result because they are quite good and capable of doing what all of us in the team can do,” remarked Yobo.
The Fernabahce of Turkey defender also assured that now that he has settled his club future, he will be back in full flight for the Eagles when they tackle the Lone Star of Liberia in September in Monrovia.
“By God’s grace Nigerians will see a brand new, refreshed Joseph Yobo in the match against Liberia,” he promised.
