Okpotu leads F/Eagles fresh call-ups
Flying Eagles new boy Okpotu in Lobi action
Aneke wanted in Turkey
Lobi Stars striker Tony Okpotu is one of four fresh call-ups who
have joined the Nigeria U20 team.
The others are Abduljaleel Ajagun and Abubakar Umar from champions Dolphin and Sharks striker Bright Ejike.
Okpotu has been rewarded by a call-up after a superlative form in front of goal for Lobi Stars, who are seeking a league and cup double this season.
He has so far fired six goals for Lobi in the league.
Ajagun, a versatile midfielder who first came to prominence at the 2009 FIFA U17 World Cup hosted by Nigeria, is from the Class of 2011 team but he is still within the age allowed for the current qualifiers.
Ejike was also part of the Class of 2011 and he is best remembered for his sensational goals in the World Cup quarterfinal against France in Colombia.
Striker Umar, who joined Dolphin from Wikki Tourists in mid-season, has been with the Nigeria U20s but had to leave camp to attend to an injury.
All four fresh call-ups featured in Saturday’s evening training at the Ilorin Township Stadium.
Team officials said Denmark-based winger Egbedi Edafe will only be available from August 7, while defender Kenneth Omeruo will again not be able to honour the latest invitation as a result of commitments with Dutch club ASO Den Haag.
The Flying Eagles will host their Tanzanian counterparts in a second round, second leg 2013 African Youth Championship on Sunday, August 12.
Nigeria won the first leg in Dar es Salaam 2-1.
The overall winners of this match-up will take on the winners of the match between Congo and South Africa.
Congo won the first encounter 2-1.
