Kira Young move up in Uganda
Kira Young player in action
The new comers, who qualified through the second division’s Big League last season, dominated the match to score in each half at the KCCA Stadium, Lugogo.
The win pushed coach George Ssemogerere’s side ahead of Proline FC, Bidco FC, Simba and Entebbe FC as they have 19 points after 13 matches.
“My players listened to instructions and played well. We should have won by even a bigger margin,” Ssemogerere told MTNFootball.com after the encounter.
His counterpart the Water FC coach Tony Ojara said their opponents were a better side on the day and deserved to win.
Henry Oguti gave the visitors the lead in the 28th minute after receiving a neat pass from Patrick Ssenfuka.
Although Water FC tried to pull a goal back, the Kira Young defense of Derrick Teko, Aziz Mubiru and Richard Kasagga stood strong and tight.
On resumption it was Jordan Tamale who increased Kira Young’s lead with a powerful shot that Water FC goalkeeper Mathias Sseruyange failed to stop.
KCCA FC, who currently lead the table, will return to action next week, while second-placed Vipers could go top if they beat URA FC on Friday.
The other matches slated for Friday are Victors against Police, while Sports Club Villa battle Proline FC.
