Medeama SC formed in 2008 will be looking to win their first Premier League title in only their second year in the Ghanaian top-flight.
The team earned the chance to play in the elite division following the purchase of then Kumasi-based Kessben FC by business mogul Moses Armah who later named the club Medeama and moved their team’s base to Tarkwa.
Most of the club’s resources remained unchanged despite the change of ownership with players and officials staying put.
The club surpassed all expectations to place a respectable fourth after leading the log for a greater part of the first round of last season. This achievement is largely credited to the huge investments made to acquire seasoned players to boost their squad.
Medeama will however be honouring their home matches this season at the Sekondi Essipong Stadium due to ongoing works at their former Tarkwa TNA Park. Coached by experienced Bahir Hayford, a lot is expected from the Medeama lads following their impressive debut season and also, the investments made in the off-season by the signing of top players.
Their very active pre-season period (where they came second to Chelsea in the GHALCA G8 Cup) has also been of immense help as the newly-signed players got acquainted with their new colleagues.
And with an attacking trio of Louis Agyemang, Tanko Mohammed and Kabiru Moro, one could not help but tout Medeama as one of the favourites for the league crown.
