Tema Youth shock Lions in Kpando

By MTNFootball.com Wednesday Nov 30, 20:52 +0200
Tema Youth snatched a shock 1-0 win at Heart of Lions to record their first away victory this season Ghana Premier League.

Captain Bernard Akuffo's first-half strike generated some controversy on the pitch until referee Ali Musa Plato confirmed the goal.

Akuffo's powerful grounder tore through the net of goalkeeper Nana Bonsu but assistant referee Richard Appiah ruled it out after the home team and fans protested.

The Tema Youth vehemently protested and after some consultations referee Plato allowed the goal to stand.

The famous victory for the Port City side has ensured they move within a point of Lions on the table and gave them a respite.

Youth won the game without substantive coach Tony Lokko who refused to travel with the team in protest to interference by his Chief Executive Winfred Osei.

The two reportedly clashed with him during last Sunday's 3-0 victory over struggling Bechem United at home.
