Mubarak Wakaso scored a brace against Cape Verde
Ghana midfielder Mubarak Wakaso has joined the top scorers’ chart at the 2013 Nations Cup after hitting a brace against Cape Verde.

The 22-year-old converted a 54th minute penalty and scored again in injury time to book Ghana’s place in the semi finals of the tournament being hosted by South Africa.

Wakaso’s brace on Saturday brings his tally to three following his goal in the opening Group B game against DR Congo.

He now joins injured Burkina Faso forward Alain Traore as joint top scorer of the competition.

The Espanyol ace has however played one match more than other contenders who are yet to play their quarter-final matches.

Wakaso who is making his Nations Cup debut is now in a good position to extend his tally with Ghana’s progression to the semi-finals.
