Badu nominated for FIFA Goal of the Year Award

Ghana midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu has been shortlisted for the 2012 FIFA Puskas Goal of the Year Award.

The Udinese ace's goal for the Black Stars against Guinea at the 2012 Africa of Nations finals in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea made the cut.  

Badu scored with a ferocious drive at Stade de Franceville in a Group game that opening the scoring in the 1-1 draw.

He latched onto a Samuel Inkoom pass from inside the box before blasting a 25-yard  powerful drive home.

The 21-year-old is battling nine other nominees including; Brazilian wunderkind Neymar, Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao, legend Lionel Messi and six other players for the award.

Voting for the 2012 FIFA Puskas award has officially begun as the list was assembled by a panel of experts and members of FIFA's Football Committee. 

The shortlist will be reduced to three when a first round of public voting on FIFA's website ends on 29 November. 

The award will be handed out at the FIFA Gala on January 7, 2013.Santos star Neymar of Brazil won the award last year.
