Sulley Muntari hopes to be fit for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations
AC Milan midfielder Sulley Muntari says he will return to football before the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.

The 27-year-old ruptured his anterior cruciate ligaments in his knee two weeks ago while playing football with friends on holidays in Ghana.

He went under knife last week in Milan and doctors said he will need six months to recover fully.

But Muntari has cleared doubts about his lengthy lay-off and suggested he will be fit by January when the Nations Cup finals kick-starts.

"Before, before ... I know my body and how it will react, I'll be back very soon," Muntari said in an interview.

Muntari showed signs of recapturing his old form after an impressive display at Milan last season on loan.

He made 13 Serie A appearances and delivered three goals after joining the club in February from rival club Inter.

The former Portsmouth player has played at three Nations Cup finals and was captain for Ghana in this month's two Brazil 2014 World Cup qualifiers.
