Kwadwo Asamoah is lamenting Sulley Muntari lengthy injury lay-off
Juventus-bound Kwadwo Asamoah says injured Sulley Muntari will be sorely missed by the Ghana national team.

Muntari, 27, ruptured his anterior cruciate knee ligaments while on holiday in Accra and has been ruled for six months.

He will miss Ghana's 2013 Africa Cup of Nations final round qualifiers in September and October this year.

Asamoah says Muntari's absence is likely to have a negative effect on the national team.

"He is a great player and it's very sad he is on the injury list because his contribution in the team is great and he motivates us a lot but all we have to do is pray for him to  and wish him speedy recovery," Asamoah is quoted by the Ghana Sports Newspaper.

Muntari was stand-in captain for the Black Stars when they played two Brazil 2014 World Cup qualifiers early this month against Lesotho and Zambia.
