Clottey yearns for Black Stars starting role
The 24-year-old's swashbuckling scoring record in the 2012 CAF Champions League has been a major talking point in the country.
His brace against TP Mazembe in Lubumbashi last Sunday justified why he deserves an automatic starting role in the Black Stars squad for their next assignment against China on August 15.
Clottey says he is ready to make the most of any opportunity handed him by Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah.
"I am ready to play whenever I am given the chance to prove myself," Clottey told an Accra-based Peace FM.
"It is the prerogative of the coach to decide which player he prefers to start in a game but like I said I am always ready when the opportunity presents itself.
"I have not had the chance to start but I am not bothered because the fact that you start does not mean you are automatically going to score.
"Everything is a matter of time I believe.''
Clottey leads the CAF Champions League scorers chart with 11 goals from eight matches.
