Frimpong returns after two-year injury absence
Joetex Frimpong has returned to football after a two-year injury induced lay-off
The striker ended his two years on the sidelines over the weekend as his new club FC Zurich were held to a 1-1 draw by his former club Luzern in the Swiss top-flight's season opener.
Frimpong who has been club-less since suffering a serious knee two years ago came on as a substitute during the game with end his long stay on the sidelines.
He joined the club last week on a six-month contract after former manager at FC Luzern, Ralf Fringer handed him the opportunity to revive his career.
"I'm excited to return to football again. Fringer has given me another opportunity and my desire is to make him and the club happy,'' Frimpong said.
"It's a rare chance for me and I want to maximize it.
"The Luzern fans gave me a nice welcome considering my feet at the club. I'm happy we left with a point."
The two-time Caf Champions League winner, who holds the record as Enyimba's most successful striker, has played for Swiss sides, BSC Young Boys, FC Luzern and FC Grenchen before his recent adventure at FC Zurich.
