Berekum Chelsea will play Zamalek in Berekum instead of the Golden City Park in Berekum
Ghanaian side Berekum Chelsea have confirmed their CAF Champions League opener will be played at the Accra Sports Stadium.

A Confederation of African Football delegation assessed the state of the Golden City Park last week and was reportedly unsatisfied with facilities at the centre.

This came after Zamalek had vehemently protested over the standard of the home ground of the 2011 Ghana Premier League champions.

The Golden City Park underwent a massive facelift to host matches in the qualifier but it is deemed unfit for the group phase matches.

"The club wish to announce that our Champions League opener against Zamalek will be played in Accra," A statement on the club's website read.

"Our decision is as a result of a CAF decision to move the game from the Golden City Park due to the absence of certain facilities.

"We respect that and we will also like to apologize to our fans in Berekum for their scuttled dreams."

Chelsea will also play TP Mazembe and six-time champions Al Ahly in Group B.
