Gyan facing tough Al Ain future
Asamoah Gyan will struggle without key players at Al Ain
The Saudi international, who played as the UAE side’s playmaker last season, was instrumental in Gyan’s success last season.
Qathani set up several goals for the Ghana international last season making them the most formidable partnership in the UAE top-flight last season.
Gyan will sign a permanent contract with Al Ain by early next week and he was expecting Qathani to follow suit as the Saudi national was on loan from his club Al Hilal.
Al Ain have had a €2.1 million offer to sign striker Yasser Al Qahtani from parent club Al Hilal turned down which means he will return to his country.
The UAE champions will now have to look for an influential playmaker to set up the goals for Gyan.
Gyan and Qathani were good friends during the striker’s loan spell from Sunderland.
The Ghana star was the League’s top scorer last season with 22 goals and ended his year-long loan move from English Premier League side Sunderland by leading Al Ain to a 10th league success.
