Ghana sports writers have honoured Danny Jordaan for leading South Africa's successful hosting of the first World Cup in Africa.
The vice president of the South Africa Football Association was given the award at the 36th MTN Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Awards Night on Saturday night.
He was given a traditional dress to signify his immense contribution in organising the global tournament in Africa for the first time.
Jordaan, who served as the Special Guest of Honour for the event, was delighted with the recognition.
"I am happy that the people of Ghana recognised my contribution in making the 2010 World Cup a success but I am not the only the person to take the credit," Jordaan told MTNFootball.com.
"The people of South Africa and the entire continent of Africa contributed in this great achievement and we must all celebrate it."
Jordaan is credited with the successful organization of the South Africa 2010 FIFA World Cup where he served as the Chief Executive of the Local Organising Committee.
