Africa Sports d’Abidjan outclassed Issia (0-1) during the 14th week of the Ligue 1, and in so doing took a step closer to the Super Division.  But all the same the Aiglons remain in a precarious position before the final group match between ASI d’Abengourou and USC Bassam.

The match was interrupted on Sunday 17 June 2012 due to downpours in the Cité de la Paix, and was rescheduled for this Wednesday 20 June 2012 at the Stade Municipal d’Abengourou.

As things stand, Africa (16 points-1) are in the runnings for the Super Division, but could lose their place should one of the opposition from Abengourou win.

ASI d’Abengourou (14 points) would move from fifth into second place, which would cause the Aiglons to fall into fourth place in the group; the same equation applies should the Insulaires win on Wednesday in Abengourou.  USC Bassam, currently lying in sixth place, would have the same number of points as the Green and Reds, but of course the Bassam men would grab the last ticket in the pool thanks to a better goal difference.

Africa’s salvation would therefore only come with a draw between ASI and USC Bassam.  But with an Indénié team that have only lost once at home (1-0 against Stella, week 6) and a Bassam team who cannot win in their away games, the outcome of this match could cause some disappointment amongst the Aiglons.

In the wait for this final Group A match and with the risk of making an error, only Séwé de San-Pedro and Stella Club are capable of participating in the Super Division alongside the three teams who have qualified from Pool B (AFAD, ASEC and JCAT).
