Côte d’Ivoire Cup: Séwé make the final
Séwé Sports de San Pedro
The match did not start off well for the Portuaires however, when Okan Agoussi, beating the rest in the air, sent a high ball catapulting into Sangaré Badra’s nets (1-0, 40th), giving the Militaires the advantage just before the break.
Njoya Mesack’s team had to wait for the last twenty minutes of the game to gain a bit of hope from Kévin Zougoula’s equaliser on a penalty, following a foul on Koffi Foba Stevens (1-1, 68th).
Invigorated after reaching parity, San Pedro’s men scored two more goals, a sneaky lob by Koffi Foba (78e), then Kévin Zougoula’s second brace within a few days (86th), following last weekend’s in the Super Division against Stella.
Séwé have suffered two unsuccessful finals against ASEC Mimosas in 1999 and 2005, and have now been granted another opportunity to finally lift the trophy on 6 August against Stella Club d’Adjamé, who beat ASEC Mimosas in a penalty shootout (1-1, tab 4-1) in the first semi-final on Wednesday at the Stade Robert Champroux de Marcory.
This is the first time since the 2006 final between Issia Wazi and SOA, that ASEC and Africa Sports have both missed out on this ultimate stage of the competition.
