MTN Ligue 1 : Super Division
AFAD were victorious over ASEC 2-1 as the Super Division came to a close, finishing in second position.

Wednesday saw the tenth and final day of the 2011 edition of the Ivorian Championship take place.  The champion had already been decided on day nine, but it was still to be determined who would accompany Africa Sports to the Champions League.

AFAD held their destiny in their own hands before they met ASEC at the Stade Robert Champroux, and from the 7th minute of the encounter, Zakri Krahiré brought Djekanou’s team a little closer to the highly prized second place by beating Adama Cissé with an excellent strike.

The Mimos put on the pressure at the end of the first half to equalise, but a well-positioned Mangoua Kessé missed his mark before Tahourou Clovis performed an excellent save on a Kouakou N’Doua Irénée free kick.

The Yellow and Black efforts paid off at the start of the second half, thanks to Kouakou N’Doua, who equalised for his team on the 47th minute.

The Académiciens re-established their domination, and Allégné Bobley gave his team the advantage again just past an hour into the game.

AFAD even came close to extending the lead right at the end of the encounter, but Mansou Kouakou struck the posts of Adama Cissé.

The score was to remain unchanged and with 15 points, Djékanou’s protégés end just behind the « Oyé » and will participate in the 2012 CAF Champions League.

Séwé Sport triumphed over SOA 1-0 at the Parc des Sports de Treichville and finish in third position with 14 points, thereby qualifying for the CAF Confederation Cup in the company of ASEC Mimosas, the winner of the National Cup.

With the title already in the bag, Africa Sport d’Abidjan ended their season in beauty by beating Stella 1-0 at the Stade Félix Houphouet-Boigny, thanks to a goal by Ezé Patrick Friday on the 50th minute.

Président Koné Cheick Oumar’s men would only have suffered one defeat in this Super Division in which they had the best attack (16 goals) and the best defence (8 goals conceded).

The 2012 season will take off again on 18 February next, with the Super Cup Houphouet-Boigny final between Africa Sports and ASEC Mimosas; while the 2012 MTN Ligue 1 will kick off on the 25th of February.

Noteworthy is that Stade d’Abidjan and Adzopé FC were relegated to the MTN Ligue 2, while EFYM and L’ES Bingerville join the elite.

Results of day ten:

ASEC Mimosas 1-2 AFAD

SOA 0-1 Séwé Sport

Africa Sports 1-0 Stella
