MTN Ligue 1: Super Division
Africa Sports won the derby against ASEC on day 7 of the Super Division, Sunday at the Stade Félix Houphouet-Boigny.

The Aiglons host the Yellow and Black behind closed doors after being severely sanctioned following the incidents that marred their last two outings.

Tito Nobile’s protégés initiated proceedings at the 18th minute following a hand ball by Diomandé Ahmed Hervé in the penalty area.  Kouamé Désiré Magloire then transformed the penalty to give Africa the advantage.

But two minutes later, the captain of the Mimos made up for his error when his header from a Zagbayou Hughes Evrard corner smashed into the back of Cissé Abdoul Karim’s nets.

Sébastien Desabre’s men managed to take the advantage at the half hour mark when a Koné Bakary free kick found a Green and Red hand in the penalty area.  Okou Zahoui Désiré took control of the sanction and sent the two teams back to the cloakrooms on the score of 2-1 to ASEC’s favour.

The Oyés put on the pressure on their return from the break and equalised on the 63rd minute on a penalty transformed by Kouamé Désiré, following another handball by Diomandé Ahmed in the penalty area.

The encounter seemed to be heading towards a draw when the Aiglons made their final strike at the 88th minute after Sanogo Moussa lost a ball that Gogoua Aboussy Cedric then struck victoriously into the back of the nets of the Yellow and Black.

Africa Sports thus sail ahead at the top of the Super Division with a five point lead on the Mimos who now lie in second last position.

Séwé Sport beat Stella 1-0 the day before at the Stade Robert Champroux, while SOA and AFAD drew 2-2 at the Parc des Sports de Treichville.

The Militaires of SOA therefore maintain their second place at three points from the leader, lying equal to the Portuaires of Séwé Sport who climb back up to third place.

AFAD and ASEC are lying in fourth and fifth positions respectively with eight points, while Stella fall to last place with seven points.
