The Mimos lie two points from the Aiglons!
MTN Ligue 1 : Super Division
After being beaten 2-0 by the Magnans d’Adjamé during
the first leg of the competition, ASEC Mimosas took their revenge on Sunday at
the Stade Robert Champroux.
The Yellow and Black opened the score just
after the quarter of an hour mark through Kouakou N’Doua Irénée who benefitted
from a defensive error by the Stellistes to beat Kobenan Vagne.
With the score still at 1-0 at the break, the
Magnans put on the pressure in the second half and finally equalised at the
75th minute through Diabaté Samba, who left Sanogo with no chance.
But just four minutes later, Koné Bakary found Okou
Zahui who headed to give the Mimos the definitive advantage.
Sébastien Desabre’s protégés therefore climb
back into third place, only two points behind the leader, Africa Sports, who
was held to a draw on Saturday at the Stade Robert Champroux 1-1 by SOA.
As per the first leg, the Oyés and the Militaires
could only manage a draw.
This is the third consecutive draw for Africa
Sports who have seen their lead on the table sadly diminishing.
The Aiglons created the best opportunities in
the first half, but Ezé Patrick and Kouassi Serge only managed to hit the SOA
keeper’s posts.
The two teams headed back to the cloakrooms at
ten against ten, after the expulsions of Konan Malan of the Militaires and Kouakou
Serge of the Aiglons.
Africa finally took the lead at the 69th minute
on a Bamba Issiaka goal, but SOA equalised a minute later through Okan Agoussi.
Lastly, AFAD took their revenge on Séwé Sport, who
had beaten them in the first leg 2-1, by thrashing the Portuaires 4-2 on Sunday
at the Parc des Sports de Treichville.
Africa Sports and SOA therefore hold the first
two places on the table, followed by a bun fight at the other extreme with ASEC
lying third by two points, and AFAD, Stella and Séwé Sport, all following at
seven points.
To be noted was the outbreak at the end of the
Africa Sports/SOA encounter, with Africa’s supporter, the MAM (Membres Associés
Mobilisés) striking out violently at the referee, Dembélé Denis.
This is the second time that the Oyés’
supporters have taken out their frustrations on the officials, and as a result,
the referee association, the AMACI (Amicale des arbitres de Côte d’Ivoire) has
decided to suspend its participation in any Ivoirian Federation competition
until further notice, including the smooth running of day seven.
The results for day six:
Africa Sports 1-1 SOA
Séwé Sport 2-4 AFAD
ASEC 2-1 Stella
The programme for day seven:
Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 November
Stella-Séwé Sport
SOA-AFAD
Africa Sports-ASEC
