League Overview
For its fifty-fourth edition, the 2012 versionof the Côte d’Ivoire championship will be modelled on the format adopted in 2011, namely 2 groups comprising 7 clubs each who will meet over two legs.
The first three from each group will qualify for the Super Division 2012, the second round of this championship which will see the six best teams clashing over two legs as well.
The two teams to bring up the rear in each group will meet in the hope of avoiding relegation to the MTN Ligue 2.
The final classification of this Super Division will designate the Côte d’Ivoire champion, as well as the clubs that will qualify for the CAF Champions League (first and second) and for the CAF Confederation Cup (third and fourth).
Africa Sports d’Abidjan is the current champion, while ASEC Mimosas is the club that holds the most titles in the country, with 24 national crowns to its name.
