Canon put a stop to Coton Sport
The Cotonculteurs got the match going right from the outset with a Jacques
Haman strike on the 2nd minute, but the young striker sent the ball
sailing too high.
Kpa Kum responded almost immediately, forcing Garoua’s international
keeper to make a save on the number 8, Ngom Balonga’s attempt.
The locals continued to push and Loïc Feudjou had to pull out all the
stops again to stop a powerful Atouba Emane strike on the 20th
minute.
Coton took things back in hand at the end of the first half, but the two
formations headed back to the cloakrooms at the break with nothing to show on
the score board.
After a long interruption due to a downpour, the match got going again
and it was Aboubakar Souleymanou’s men who found the weak spot just before the
hour mark thanks to Ngom Balonga.
The Garoua crew thought they had found the equaliser less than ten
minutes later, but Bapidi Fils was indicated off sides in his efforts.
It was only a matter of time before Bassamanin Mondombo scored the
decider for the title holders right at the end of the encounter.
Robert Boivin’s team therefore maintain their first place, but remain
within reach of Union and Unisport.
The two other clashes of the weekend saw Aigle Royal’s first win against
Renaissance on Dschang soil, as well as the defeat of Sable de Batié at home
against YOSA.
Menoua's Eagles thus escape the danger zone.
