Cameroon: Unisport and Union in the lead
The latter two remain stuck at the bottom of
the table, still in search of their first victory in the championship.
After a loss against Canon in Yaoundé on Day 3,
Unisport got going again on a good footing beating the Astres de Douala 3-0 on
Sunday at their stadium in Bafang. The “Brésiliens
de Bépanda” therefore suffered their first victory of the season.
Neck and neck with the “Flambeau de l’ouest “,
Union de Douala are keeping up the pace after having beaten Renaissance de
Ngoumou 1-0 at the Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo de Yaoundé. The “Nassaras” remain co-leaders of the league.
But the two clubs in the lead are still within
striking distance of the Panthère du Ndé’s class, a team that has just won its
third consecutive victory against Canon at home in Bangangté. A goal by Kologni Ngampiep in the 10th
minute of the encounter was sufficient to punish “Kpa Kum” with yet another
defeat. The club that hails from Yaoundé
therefore currently lies stone last in the championship.
The giant from Garoua continues to calmly climb
back up the log with a 2-0 victory over YOSA at home. Cotonsport now occupy fourth position and lie
waiting in ambush behind the leading trio, ready to benefit from the slightest faux-pas.
The other matches on Day 4 saw Scorpion fall
again against Njalla Quan, following their good result against Tiko United; and
Sable de Batié recorded their first victory at the expense of the New Stars de
Douala, who suffered their first defeat of the season.
