MTN Elite 1 leaders held to a draw
Unisport played away against bottom-of-the-table Canon Sportif de Yaoundé at the Stade Omnisport Ahmadou Ahidjo. The locals proceeded to take matters into their own hands and opened the score after a quarter of an hour, then doubled the count on their return from the break.
But the Flambeau de l’ouest demonstrated all their strengths in reacting and reducing the gap, firstly on a penalty at the hour mark, then equalising on the 71st minute.
Kpa-Kum thereby garnered their first point of the season, but remain stuck in the depths of the league standings.
Facing Coton Sport at the Stade de la Reunification, Union de Douala could have benefitted from Unisport's blunder, but the coastal club also had to share points with the men from Garoua, with the two teams parting ways on the score of 1-1.
Despite this serious blow the two leaders still hold the lead, but they now lie only a measly point ahead of the Panthers, who had an excellent game on Day 3.
The Fauve du Ndé won their away game in Dschang 1-0 against the Aigle de la Menoua and as a result climb back up to third position.
The coastal derby which saw the Astres oppose the New Stars at the Stade de la Réunification was the occasion for the two clubs from Douala to climb the ranks, but once again a draw was the order of the day.
The Brésiliens de Bépanda and their promoted neighbour nonetheless occupy 4th and 5th positions respectively in the league.
Also noteworthy was the important victory 3-0 of Scorpion de Bé over Tiko United at the Stade Omnisports de Garoua.
The men from the Moungo province thereby win their first points in the championship, leaving the Samba Boys to stagnate in second-last position in their wake.
