Coton Sport got the upper hand over Canon 2-1 on Monday in Garoua, in their postponed week 20 Elite One clash (Cameroonian’s league).

As per the first leg (Coton won 1-0 in Yaoundé in the seventh week), the Cotonniers took the advantage over the Mekok-Me-Ngonda, this time at home at the Stade Roumdé Adjia.

The locals took control from the start, opening the score in the fourth minute through Aminou Bouba.

Kpa Kum were caught totally unawares, but still managed to equalise in the 35th minute, thanks to Captain Pierre Womé’s free kick.

The score remained the same heading into the second half, before Coton Sport striker Houssein gave his team the definitive advantage in the 76th minute.

The teams ended the match with ten men apiece, but Sébastien Ndzana Kana and his teammates got what they were looking for, while the Nkolndongo club remains on a series of three matches with no victory.

Gabriel Haman’s men now have their heads well above water following this great performance, and remain in contact with the leader, Union Sportive de Douala.

The Nassara Kamakaï (Union) consolidated their first place when they outclassed Scorpion de Bé on Monday at the Stade de la Réunification, thanks to a goal by Joël Babanda in the dying moments of the game.

President Franck Happi’s protégés make it their seventh consecutive victory, and maintain their lead of five points over Coton, while New Stars complete the podium after holding Tiko United to a draw 0-0 on Sunday afternoon.

Young Sport Academy and Sable de Batié also parted ways with a draw in Bamenda, as did Renaissance de Ngoumou and Aigle Royal de la Menoua at the Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo in Yaoundé.

Njalla Quan signed their third consecutive victory, inflicting their first defeat in the return leg of the championship on the Astres de Douala, and climb into night spot.

And finally Unisport du Haut-Nkam were thrilled with their drubbing of Panthère du Ndé 3-0, in Bangangté.

The Flambeau de l’Ouest thus move back to winning ways after a series of five consecutive draws and seize fourth place; while the Panthère continues their drop downwards, unable to secure a win since the fifteenth week, after their excellent first leg.
