Elite One, 2 top duels
The Garoua men beat Unisport du Haut-Nkam 2-0 on Wednesday, in a postponed Week 10 match, and now lead Union de Douala by two points, Panthère du Ndé and Yong Sport Academy de Bamenda by three and its last victim, Flambeau de l’Ouest by four.
The thirteenth and final day of the first leg of the MTN Elite One 2012 will see Panthère Sportive and Union de Douala clashing in Bangangté and Unisport du Haut-Nkam and YOSA coming to blows in Bafang.
Panthère du Ndé, the only team to have outclassed the Cotonculteurs this season, are still to fall at home and should give the Nassara, a team who have just had two consecutive draws, a hard time.
But Bonaventure Djonkep’s men could pose a threat to the leader if they have a win in Bangangté, and this remains a strong motivation for them at the halfway mark in the championship.
Unisport, who have not won since week 9, will also be feeling the pressure when they host a Yong Sport Academy outfit who have strung together a series of six matches with no defeat.
President Emmanuel Lebou’s protégés must win on their home ground, for fear of seeing themselves slip further and further down the log, while the Académiciens de Bamenda will have a good opportunity to upset the leading duo.
Another interesting week 13 clash will see Tiko United oppose their hosts Renaissance de Ngoumou, two teams who have made an impressive comeback after a disastrous start to the season.
The Samba Boyz have been undefeated since week 9, while Renaissance have just strung together three consecutive victories, notably beating Unisport and Panthère.
In the middle of the log, Sable host Canon Sportif de Yaoundé, who will be keen to quickly get back on the winning track after being held to a draw by Aigle Royal de la Menoua.
El Pacha remain unbeaten over their last four outings, and will now head to Stade de la Réunification to oppose the Astres, who have not won since week 7; this clash will be followed by an encounter between New Star de Douala and Scorpion FC de Bé.
Faustin Domkeu’s team are struggling after a very promising debut to the season, and anything other than a victory against the team bringing up the rear in the championship will not go down very well.
Finally the leader, Coton Sport de Garoua make their way to Limbe to meet hosts Njalla Quan Sport Academy, who have not enjoyed a win since week 4.
A kick-start is expected from the promoted team with the arrival of French-Cameroonian coach, Zacharie Etoundi who has replaced Nicolas Tonye.
