The Panther bares its claws

Panthère Sportive took the lead in the Elite One by outclassing the leader, Coton Sport, in Bangangté.

Following the blow they suffered against Njalla Quan in the previous week, Fauve du Ndé got back on track with panache, inflicting their first defeat of the season on the Cotonculteurs 1-0.

Robert Boivin’s men were possibly preoccupied with their important match against the Nigerian outfit, Dolphins, in the second leg of the 1/16th round of the CAF Champions League.

Also noteworthy was Canon Sportif de Yaoundé’s reaction in the aftermath of their defeat at the hands of YOSA.  The “Kpa Kum” tasted victory again, beating Scorpion 2-0 at the Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo.

Aboubacar Souleymanou’s protégés thereby grab 6th place at three points from the leader.

The clash between New Star and Union Sportive at the Stade de la Réunification ended in a draw, 1-1.  President Faustin Domkeu’s team continue to slide in the championship, while the Nassaras did not benefit from the slip up of big rivals, Coton Sport and Unisport.

Flambeau de l’Ouest fell on home soil at Bafang at the hands of Renaissance de Ngoumou, who made this their second consecutive victory.

The visitors quickly sailed away with two goals by Patrick Metogo and Landry Bassilekin, scored in just over ten minutes.  Unisport reduced the gap just before half time thanks to Eloundou Etoundi, but not another goal was scored until the final whistle was blown.

But Renaissance was not the only team to come back to life.  Tiko United have also just secured a second consecutive victory by beating visitors Njalla Quan 2-0.

The two teams who previously brought up the rear climb into 11th and 12th places, at the expense of Scorpion and Njalla Quan.

Finally in the Western Derby that saw Sable de Batié host neighbours Aigle Royal de la Menoua in Mbouda, it was “El Pacha” who won on the score of 2-0, on goals by Abdoulaye and Monsio in the first quarter of an hour of play.

Emmanuel Likoumba’s men fall back down to eighth place after this second consecutive defeat.
