Kick-off for the 53rd edition of the Cameroon Football Championship will be on Saturday 2 February 2013, with the opening match being the clash between title-holders Union Sportive de Douala and their rival from the economic capital, Astres FC de Douala, at the Stade de la Réunification.

The Nassaras Kamakai won the fifth title of their history in brilliant style last season in front of the giants from the north of Cameroon, Coton Sport de Garoua.

Aigle Royal de la Menoua, who were promoted to the Elite One in 2012, fell back to the second division just as quickly, accompanied by Tiko United and Scorpion FC de Be, while Tonnerre Kalara Club, Fovu Club de Baham and Douala Athletic Club moved in the opposite direction and will compete in the elite this year.

Union will naturally be one of the serious candidates for their own succession, as will Coton Sport de Garoua, which is the most titled club in the country (11 titles) ahead of Canon Sportif Yaoundé (10 titles), and Unisport du Haut-Nkam, who recently bagged the Cameroon Cup.
