Algeria will be appearing in their very first African Nations Championship having failed to qualify for the inaugural event in Cote d'Ivoire in 2009.
The side has been pooled in Group A along with hosts Sudan, Uganda and Gabon, and given the relative success of their club and national team sides on the continental stage in recent years, will be fairly confident of success.
The majority of the players in their squad come from the Entente Sportive de Sétif club, who appeared in the group stages of the 2010 African Champions League.
It is perhaps more surprising that Champions League semifinalists JS Kabylie have given just three players to the Algerian CHAN squad.
The side will be coached by the current head of the Algerian national team, Abdelhak Benchikha.
