The build-up of Tunisia’s Club Africain to Saturday’s CAF Confederation Cup semi-final at Sunshine Stars of Nigeria has been hit by a players’ strike over pay.

The Tunisian club went on strike severally before they jetted out to Nigeria for Saturday’s showdown at Sunshine.

Experienced coach Faouzi Benzarti has had to plead with his players to put behind the issue of unpaid salaries and bonuses so as to focus on the big task ahead.

Club Africain finished top of Group A with 11 points from six matches, while Sunshine were second in Group B also with 11 points.

The 90-man Club Africain delegation arrived Nigeria Thursday without top star Zouhaier Dhaouadi, who is suspended.

The return leg of this semi-final will be played in Tunis inside an empty stadium after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) imposed a two-match ban Club Africain following crowd trouble in a group game against Asec Mimosas of Cote d’Ivoire.
