Players force Sunshine training site change
Sunshine Stars winger Ajani Ibrahim wants to score on Sunday
Sunshine train in Benin
Players of Sunshine Stars forced
a change of their training camp from Benin to Abeokuta ahead of Sunday's CAF
Champions League clash.
The Nigerian sole campaigners in the CAF elite competition were earlier billed to camp in Benin City, but have since moved to Abeokuta to prepare for the defending champions from Tunisia.
Confirming the switch of venue to MTNFootball.com Ondo State Football Agency executive director Mike Idoko said, "We had to change our plans because the players insisted that Benin City was far from Ijebu-Ode. In any case they are the main actors of the game and if they want to be in Abeokuta why not?
"As management we approved the demands of the players considering the fact that we have been away from Ijebu-Ode for a while now so I think it’s not out of place to have them in Abeokuta and the move to Ijebu-Ode on Thursday."
In the meantime, winger Ajani Ibrahim has promised to score his first goal of the season against Esperance on Sunday.
“I have been working hard to get back to my scoring form. I am in good shape to return to scoring goals. I am targeting getting my first goal of the season against Esperance,” he told MTNFootbal.com
“It has not been easy for me as I am the target of defenders whenever Sunshine Stars are in action, but I will end that against the Tunisians.”
Ajani scored 19 goals in the Nigeria Premier League as well as a handful on the continent last season, but he is yet to open his goals account this term.
Sunshine and Esperance are in Group A along with Aso Chlef of Algeria and Etoile du Sahel of Tunisia.
Last year, Sunshine reached the semi-finals of the second-tier CAF Confederation Cup.
