Azuka vs ASO Chlef on Sunday
Nigeria’s Sunshine Stars are back in strong contention in the CAF Champions League after a 2-0 home win over ASO Chlef of Algeria on Sunday.

The home win has thus revived the Nigerian club’s hopes in the competition as they have now recorded four points from three matches.

Etoile du Sahel, who also have four points, will battle Group A leaders and fellow Tunisians Esperance in the other game in Group A later Sunday.

ASO Chlef remain without a point in three games in the group phase of the competition.

Second-half goals by Dele Olorundare and Izu Azuka did the magic for the Akure club inside the Dipo Dina Stadium in Ijebu-Ode.

Olorundare headed home a corner by skipper Godfrey Oboabona in the 49th minute to give the home team the lead after a goalless first half in which both teams had chances to make hay.

It was a crowning glory and the fourth goal in this year’s Champions League for Olorundare, who was all over the park in the first 45 minutes.

Nigeria international Izu Azuka doubled Sunshine’s advantage on the hour courtesy of a solo run.

In the dying moments of the encounter, Sunshine goalkeeper Moses Ocheje pulled off two big saves to deny the visiting North Africans.

Ocheje put out for corner an effort by Eyanga from six yards out and moments later he saved a 30-yard free kick taken by Sabri Gharbi.
