Etoile bent on revenge
Etoile du Sahel will have revenge on
their minds when they host compatriots Esperance in their CAF Champions League
clash on Saturday night.
The match will be played Sousse with a
late kick-off of 23h00 CAT to give fans the opportunity to observe Ramadan.
Defending champions Esperance triumphed
1-0 in the reverse fixture 10 days ago, almost certainly ensuring their passage
into the competition’s semifinals, but leaving Etoile’s future in doubt.
Esperance have nine points at the top of
Group A after three wins on the trot, while Etoile have just four, level with
Sunshine Stars who currently sit in second place in the pool on
goal-difference.
Victory for Esperance and they will be
into the knockout stages with two games to spare, but defeat and the top two
positions will be all up for grabs once again.
A draw would suit Esperance just fine,
but with an away match against Stars to some in Nigeria, could leave Etoile
with too much work to do.
The decisive goal of the first match was
scored by Khaled Mouelhi from the penalty-spot in what was a tense encounter in
Rades.
Neother side has been in action since
then having been given time to prepare for this tie, so both squads will at
least go into the game fresh.
