Angolan coach, Gustavo Ferrin, was visibly upset at the press conference following his side’s opening 2013 African Cup of Nations Group A match against Morocco, citing that his side were not tested in defence and should have scored themselves.

“We were not really tested in defence,” explains Ferrin.

“Our team plays in accordance with situation we were facing. We had many things in our favour, we had chances to score. We have to recover and do better in the next match.”

Looking ahead to his side’s next game against South African on Wednesday, January 23rd, Ferrin believes his side have the same chance of qualifying out of their group as they did before the start of Group A.

“The opportunity before the competition we were the least qualified team according to FIFA and no one gave us a chance to compete in this group,” said the Angolan coach

“Everyone drew (in Group A) and we have the same chance before the competition that we have now. Nothing has changed.”

Looking to the striking department, captain and Real Valladolid striker Manucho said that he is not upset about missing the target despite wasting numerous opportunities in front of goal.

“I think that we had a very good match. I think it was satisfactory. I am not frustrated that I didn’t score, it is ok for this phase,” Manucho said.

“Next match we are going to correct our mistakes and improve our play.”
