Deputy coach Seyoum Kebebe says Ethiopia's unbeaten run in their buildup matches has left them with a stronger team spirit.

Kebebe told MTNFootball.com that the three friendly games have left the Walia Antelopes bullish ahead of the January 21 Group C opener against Zambia at Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit.

"It was our plan to do that (get good results) before we face Zambia and the friendly games were good for us and so we think we are competitive now," Kabebe said.

"The spirit is fantastic after the long journey."

Seyoum was in charge of Ethiopia's 2012 CECAFA Cup team that reached the quarterfinals of the event staged in Uganda last month.

Ethiopia won two and drew one of their three friendly matches in the run-up to the Africa Cup.

They beat Niger 1-0 and drew 1-1 with Tunisia on December 30 and January 7 respectively.Ethiopia completed their three-match friendly series with a 2-1 win over Tanzania on January 11.
