Sunzu - Heading to Reading in the EPL
Zambia star defender Stopilla Sunzu has been excused from AFCON training in Nelspruit to attend a medical at EPL side Reading.

Sunzu's club TP Mazembe of DR Congo confirmed on their official website that Sunzu will be away for four days at the English Premier League side to seal a prospective £3 million deal.

"Indeed, Sunzu is in Reading for tests after an agreement between TP Mazembe and the Zambia Federation," Mazembe president Moses Katumbi stated on the club’s website.

"He (Sunzu) just sent us a message in which he thanked the club."

The 23-year-old defender, whose first adventure in Europe with a French club was short lived, did not travel with the team to Nelspruit on Sunday but instead flew to straight to England.

He is expected to join the team in Nelspruit on January 19 just two days before Zambia's opening Group C game against Ethiopia.

Sunzu, who scored Zambia’s winning post-match penalty at the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations final in Gabon, was man of the match in Chipolopolo's final pre-2013 AFCON friendly 0-0 draw against Norway in Ndola at the weekend.

After his exploits last year, he was linked with a move to European champions Chelsea.
